miR-10a inhibitor is a synthetic oligonucleotide designed to bind and neutralize microRNA-10a (miR-10a). In the context of lung cancer research, miR-10a has been identified as a potential regulator of cell viability and growth, specifically targeting the catalytic subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K). Preclinical studies presented at the AACR 2012 meeting demonstrated that inhibition of miR-10a increases cell viability in both non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cell lines, suggesting that miR-10a may function as a tumor suppressor. Despite the observation that its inhibition promotes growth in these models, researchers have explored miR-10a modulation as a potential therapeutic strategy for treating lung malignancies.
