miR-10a mimic is a synthetic microRNA designed to replicate the function of endogenous miR-10a, which acts as a tumor suppressor in various cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The mimic functions by binding to the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of target mRNAs, leading to their degradation or translational inhibition. A primary target of miR-10a is the catalytic subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), a key regulator of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway that drives cell proliferation and survival. By restoring miR-10a levels, the mimic reduces PI3K expression, thereby decreasing cell viability and potentially sensitizing tumor cells to other therapies.
