miR-124-3p.1 mimics are synthetic, chemically modified oligonucleotides designed to functionally imitate the endogenous microRNA miR-124-3p.1. These mimics upregulate cellular miR-124-3p.1 activity and have been used experimentally to study and modulate gene regulation in vitro and in vivo. In cancer research, especially in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), miR-124-3p.1 mimics demonstrate tumor-suppressive functions by sensitizing cancer cells to sorafenib and by inducing apoptosis through downregulation of SIRT1 and modulation of the AKT2 pathway. In preclinical models, administration of miR-124-3p.1 mimics has achieved reduced tumor proliferation and enhanced therapeutic efficacy of sorafenib. The use of such mimics remains experimental and has not reached regulatory approval for clinical use[3][4].
