miR-133a-3p mimics are chemically synthesized, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotides designed to mimic endogenous mature microRNA-133a-3p (miR-133a-3p) and upregulate its activity within cells. These mimics are widely used as research reagents to study the functional roles of miR-133a-3p across various disease models. In oncology, miR-133a-3p acts as a tumor suppressor, and its mimics have been shown to inhibit cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promote apoptosis in breast cancer, colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, retinoblastoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma by targeting genes such as GSTP1, GINS4, CREB1, and CORO1C. Additionally, miR-133a-3p mimics have been investigated in preclinical models of ischemic stroke, intervertebral disc degeneration, and neuropathic pain, where they modulate neuroinflammation and cell survival. They are supplied by multiple research reagent vendors, including GenePharma, MedChemExpress, RiboBio, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, and remain strictly in the preclinical research stage.
