miR-138 mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-138 (specifically the miR-138-5p strand). It acts as a tumor suppressor by post-transcriptionally regulating a network of oncogenic targets, including CD44, MYC, and EZH2. In preclinical research, miR-138 mimics have demonstrated the ability to inhibit cell proliferation, induce cell cycle arrest, and enhance sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents like temozolomide in various cancers such as glioblastoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and osteosarcoma. While widely utilized as a research tool and available from multiple reagent suppliers, it is currently a preclinical compound and not an approved therapeutic or a specific clinical-stage asset associated with a single pharmaceutical developer.
