miR-140-3p antagomir is a chemically modified, single-stranded antisense oligonucleotide research tool designed to silence the biological activity of microRNA-140-3p (miR-140-3p). These molecules typically feature phosphorothioate modifications to enhance metabolic stability and a cholesterol conjugation to facilitate cellular uptake. In preclinical models, miR-140-3p antagomirs have been utilized to study the regulation of genes such as KIF5A in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and SUZ12 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). By binding with high affinity to the mature miR-140-3p sequence, the antagomir prevents the microRNA from binding to its target mRNAs, thereby modulating downstream signaling pathways involved in neurodegeneration, cardiac function, and oncogenesis.
