miR-145-rich exosomes are mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles containing the microRNA miR-145. These exosomes are proposed to inhibit the migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) by targeting Junctional Adhesion Molecule A (JAM-A), which plays a role in the development of atherosclerosis. The exosomal miR-145 is associated with reducing atherosclerotic plaque formation by downregulating JAM-A expression both in vitro and in vivo.
