Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-148a-3p LNA is a locked nucleic acid (LNA)-modified antisense oligonucleotide designed to target and inhibit microRNA-148a-3p (miR-148a-3p). In preclinical models of type 2 diabetes, silencing of miR-148a-3p using this LNA-modified inhibitor has been shown to enhance glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic beta-cells. Beyond diabetes, miR-148a-3p LNA has been investigated in other therapeutic areas, including uterine leiomyoma (where it reduces cell proliferation and tumor growth), atherosclerosis (where it promotes plaque stability and mitigates vascular inflammation), and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.
