miR-155-5p mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to emulate the function of the endogenous human microRNA miR-155-5p. By upregulating miR-155-5p activity, it modulates various signaling pathways, including HIF1α, Smad2/3, and NF-κB. While miR-155-5p often acts as an oncomiR in cancers such as clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), its mimic is primarily used as a research tool to study gene regulation and potential therapeutic applications in inflammatory conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). It is currently available only as a research-grade reagent and has not entered clinical development.
