Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-15a-5p mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to mimic the activity of endogenous microRNA-15a-5p (miR-15a-5p). As a tumor suppressor, miR-15a-5p is frequently downregulated in various malignancies, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and Erdheim-Chester disease. Ectopic expression of miR-15a-5p via transfection of its mimic downregulates key oncogenic and pro-survival targets such as BCL2, BMI1, WEE1, CHK1, YAP1, and CXCL10, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing cell cycle arrest, and promoting apoptosis. While primarily utilized as a research reagent for functional analysis of miRNA pathways, modified versions of miR-15a mimics (such as the 5-FU-modified CR-001) are being investigated as therapeutic candidates in clinical trials.
