miR-16 agomiR is a synthetic, chemically modified RNA oligonucleotide designed to mimic the endogenous microRNA miR-16. It is used to increase miR-16 expression in vitro and in vivo for research and potential therapeutic purposes. miR-16 is a microRNA with established tumor suppressor functions, but it also regulates fibrosis, inflammation, and atherosclerosis by targeting multiple signaling pathways and genes involved in extracellular matrix synthesis, degradation, and inflammatory cytokine release.
