miR-17~92 targeting RNA aptamer is an RNA aptamer designed to specifically target the primary transcript of the oncogenic microRNA-17~92 (pri-miR-17~92) cluster. This cluster, also known as oncomiR-1, is frequently overexpressed in various human cancers and plays a crucial role in regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. The aptamer functions by binding to the pri-miR-17~92 transcript, which interferes with its processing and maturation into individual microRNAs such as miR-17, miR-18a, miR-19b, and miR-20a. By inhibiting the biogenesis of these oncogenic microRNAs, the aptamer aims to suppress cancer cell growth, induce cell cycle arrest, and promote apoptosis, thereby offering a therapeutic strategy for cancers driven by the miR-17~92 cluster.
