miR-182-5p mimic is a synthetic RNA molecule designed to restore the activity of the tumor-suppressive microRNA miR-182-5p, which is frequently downregulated in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The mimic functions by directly targeting and downregulating the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) MALAT-1. This interaction leads to an increase in p53 levels, which subsequently suppresses the expression of key cell cycle regulators, including CDC20 and AURKA. The resulting G2/M phase arrest inhibits tumor cell proliferation and colony formation. Preclinical evidence from xenograft mouse models indicates that miR-182-5p mimics can effectively induce tumor regression, suggesting potential as a therapeutic strategy for renal cancer.
