Overview

miR-183-5p mimic is a chemically synthesized, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to mimic the activity of endogenous microRNA-183-5p (miR-183-5p). It is primarily utilized as a research-use-only (RUO) tool to investigate the functional roles of miR-183-5p in various cellular processes, including tumor progression, metastasis, inflammation, and neuroprotection. By binding to the 3'-untranslated regions (3'-UTRs) of specific target mRNAs, such as PDCD4, TET1, and HMOX1, the mimic mediates translational repression or mRNA degradation of these target genes. In preclinical research, miR-183-5p mimics have been studied in models of breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and intracerebral hemorrhage.
