Overview

miR-199b mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to simulate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-199b. As a microRNA mimic, it functions by binding to the 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) of target mRNAs, leading to translational inhibition or mRNA degradation. In various disease models, miR-199b has been identified as a tumor suppressor or immune modulator. Research indicates that miR-199b mimics can downregulate targets such as Cyclin L1 (CCNL1) in Ewing's sarcoma, Frizzled-6 in gastric cancer, and SET nuclear proto-oncogene in colorectal cancer. Additionally, in models of multiple sclerosis (experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis), miR-199b mimics have been shown to inhibit CD44 expression and modulate cytokine production (IL-17 and IL-4), thereby suppressing lymphocyte proliferation and migration. These mimics are primarily used as research tools and are available from various life science suppliers.
