Overview

miR-203 mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA molecule designed to emulate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-203, which functions as a tumor suppressor in various malignancies. In cancers such as renal cell carcinoma (RCC), miR-203 expression is frequently downregulated, contributing to tumor progression. The mimic works by restoring miR-203 levels, which subsequently targets and inhibits the expression of oncogenic factors, including the long non-coding RNA HOTAIR. This interaction leads to the suppression of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the reduction of cancer stemness markers. Preclinical research has demonstrated that miR-203 mimics can inhibit cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while inducing apoptosis in vitro, and significantly suppressing tumor growth in vivo mouse models.
