miR-203a-3p mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA molecule designed to mimic the endogenous microRNA miR-203a-3p. In the context of oncology, particularly esophageal cancer, miR-203a-3p acts as a tumor suppressor by directly targeting the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of GATA Binding Protein 6 (GATA6) mRNA, thereby inhibiting its translation and promoting its degradation. GATA6 is a transcription factor often overexpressed in various malignancies, contributing to cell proliferation and invasion. By restoring miR-203a-3p levels, the mimic reduces GATA6 expression, leading to decreased cancer cell proliferation. This approach is being explored as a potential therapeutic strategy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and adenocarcinoma (EAC).
