miR-205 mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of endogenous microRNA-205 (miR-205). As a tumor-suppressive microRNA, miR-205 targets several oncogenic pathways, including those involving ZEB1, Ubc13, E2F1, VEGF, and PROX1. By downregulating these targets, the mimic inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), reduces cell proliferation, and impairs migratory and invasive potential in various malignancies such as melanoma, breast cancer, glioma, and colorectal cancer. It has also been investigated as a radiosensitizer. Delivery is typically achieved through nanoliposome-encapsulated systems like DOPC nanoparticles in preclinical models.
