miR-210 precursor is a microRNA molecule that serves as the precursor to mature miR-210, a well-characterized hypoxamir induced by hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF1α). In research settings, miR-210 precursors are used to study the biological consequences of miR-210 overexpression, which in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCC) has been shown to downregulate E2F transcription factor 3 (E2F3). This downregulation leads to cell cycle disturbances, specifically G2/M phase accumulation, centrosome amplification, and the induction of aneuploidy. While primarily utilized as a laboratory tool for investigating tumorigenesis and chromosome instability, miR-210 and its mimics are also explored for their roles in angiogenesis and metabolic adaptation.
