Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-214 mimic is a synthetic double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to mimic the activity of endogenous microRNA-214 (miR-214). It functions by binding to the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of target mRNAs, leading to translational repression or mRNA degradation. Key direct targets of miR-214 include protein diaphanous homolog 1 (DIAPH1), phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), and prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PTGS2/COX-2). In preclinical models of diabetic kidney disease (DKD), miR-214 mimic therapy has been shown to exert antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects, activate lipid and mitochondrial metabolic pathways, and suppress inflammatory and fibrotic transcriptional programs. It is also widely used as a research tool to investigate the role of miR-214 in various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and renal disorders.
