miR-218 mimic is a synthetic, double-stranded RNA molecule designed to restore the function of endogenous microRNA-218 (miR-218), a tumor suppressor frequently downregulated in various cancers, including cervical, lung, and gastric cancers. By mimicking the natural miRNA, it binds to the 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) of target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to their degradation or translational inhibition. Key targets include cell cycle regulators such as **Cyclin D1** and **CDK4**, the inhibition of which induces G1 phase arrest and suppresses tumor cell proliferation. Additionally, restoration of miR-218 has been shown to enhance the chemosensitivity of cancer cells to agents like carboplatin, making it a potential therapeutic candidate for combination oncology treatments.
