Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A miR-22 inhibitor is a class of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics, typically antisense oligonucleotides or antagomirs, designed to target and inhibit microRNA-22 (miR-22). miR-22 is a non-coding RNA that plays a key role in regulating metabolic homeostasis, lipid biosynthesis, and fibrogenesis, and is often upregulated in conditions such as obesity, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), and certain cancers. By silencing miR-22, these inhibitors promote the browning of white adipose tissue, increase energy expenditure, reduce hepatic steatosis, and improve insulin sensitivity. Several candidates, such as RES-010 (Resalis Therapeutics) and APT-110 (AptamiR Therapeutics), are in development for metabolic disorders.
