Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-29a inhibitor refers to a class of microRNA-targeting therapeutics, typically synthetic antisense oligonucleotides (such as antagomirs or locked nucleic acids), designed to bind and inhibit the activity of microRNA-29a (miR-29a). miR-29a is a key regulator of various physiological and pathological processes, including extracellular matrix deposition, fibrosis, inflammation, and cell proliferation. In preclinical models, inhibition of miR-29a has been investigated for its potential to accelerate wound healing (particularly in diabetic models), promote angiogenesis, and modulate fibrotic and oncogenic pathways. By blocking miR-29a, these inhibitors derepress its target genes, such as those involved in collagen organization and tissue regeneration.
