Overview

miR-466 is a microRNA (miRNA), a small non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally. It has been studied primarily as an experimental therapeutic agent and biological regulator in various disease models. miR-466 acts as a tumor suppressor in several cancers, including osteosarcoma, prostate cancer, and breast cancer, by inhibiting cell proliferation and invasion. Its mechanisms include direct targeting of genes such as insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1), prospero-related homeobox 1 (Prox1), and NUS1, leading to suppression of oncogenic pathways like AKT/NFκB signaling[2][3][7]. In corneal injury models, miR-466 inhibits lymphangiogenesis by downregulating Prox1[3]. In intrauterine adhesion models in rats, it regulates epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition via the AKT/NFκB pathway through targeting NUS1[7]. Overall, miR-466 is being explored for its potential as a novel therapeutic target or agent for cancer treatment and other proliferative diseases.
