miR-506-3p inhibitor is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide designed to bind and neutralize the activity of microRNA-506-3p (miR-506-3p). In the context of oncology research, particularly in ovarian cancer, miR-506-3p has been identified as a tumor suppressor that is often downregulated in chemoresistant cells. The inhibition of miR-506-3p has been shown to facilitate cell proliferation and autophagy while suppressing apoptosis, thereby contributing to resistance against chemotherapy agents like carboplatin. This effect is mediated through the regulation of the FOXP1/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Research indicates that the long non-coding RNA XIST acts as a molecular sponge for miR-506-3p, and using an inhibitor of this miRNA mimics the effects of XIST overexpression in promoting cancer progression and drug resistance.
