Overview

miR-542-3p inhibitor is a preclinical antisense oligonucleotide (anti-miR) tool compound designed to silence or inhibit the activity of microRNA-542-3p. As a small non-coding RNA, miR-542-3p typically regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally; its inhibition allows for the upregulation or modulation of downstream targets such as survivin (BIRC5), BMP-7, PTEN, and HK2. This inhibitor is primarily utilized in academic research to study various conditions, including osteoporosis, where it promotes osteoblast differentiation and bone strength, and several cancers (glioma, colorectal, neuroblastoma, and breast cancer), where it influences cellular proliferation and glycolytic metabolism. It is classified as a nucleic acid-based biologic and is currently used as an experimental therapeutic agent in laboratory settings to investigate miRNA-mediated regulatory networks.
