Overview

miR-542-3p mimic is a chemically synthesized, double-stranded RNA oligonucleotide designed to replicate the biological activity of the endogenous microRNA miR-542-3p. As a microRNA mimic, it functions by binding to the 3′-untranslated regions (UTRs) of specific target mRNAs, leading to translational inhibition or mRNA degradation. In preclinical research, miR-542-3p has been identified as a tumor suppressor in various cancers, including glioma, osteosarcoma, and HER2-overexpressing breast cancer. Key validated targets include Survivin (BIRC5), Hexokinase 2 (HK2), VANGL2, and Integrin-linked kinase (ILK). By downregulating these targets, the mimic can inhibit cellular proliferation, migration, and glycolytic activity. It is primarily utilized as a research tool and is available through various laboratory reagent suppliers.
