miR-548aq-3p inhibitor is an experimental antisense RNA therapy designed to target and neutralize miR-548aq-3p, a microRNA implicated in chemotherapy resistance. In epithelial ovarian cancer, miR-548aq-3p is secreted in exosomes and downregulates the RNA polymerase II mediator complex subunit 12 (MED12), leading to reduced cisplatin sensitivity. By sequestering miR-548aq-3p, the inhibitor restores MED12 levels, promotes apoptosis in cisplatin-resistant cells, and enhances the efficacy of platinum-based chemotherapy.
