Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-660-5p antagonist is a target-specific oligonucleotide therapeutic designed to inhibit the activity of microRNA-660-5p (miR-660-5p). In the context of liver disease, miR-660-5p is upregulated during the progression of liver fibrosis. Antagonism of miR-660-5p has been shown to attenuate steatohepatitis-related liver fibrosis in preclinical models, which is associated with the regulation of the FGF9–FGF21 axis and transcriptional reprogramming of hepatocytes. Additionally, miR-660-5p acts as an oncogenic microRNA (oncomiR) in various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and breast cancer, where its inhibition reduces cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by restoring target genes such as YWHAH and TMEM41B.
