Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-6798-5p inhibitor is an antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit the activity of microRNA-6798-5p (miR-6798-5p). Developed preclinically by the University of Córdoba and the Maimónides Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC), it is being investigated as a potential therapeutic strategy for prostate cancer, particularly in patients with obesity. miR-6798-5p acts as an oncomiR secreted by periprostatic adipose tissue (PPAT), promoting tumor aggressiveness, proliferation, and migration by repressing the tumor suppressor transgelin-2 (TAGLN2). Inhibition of miR-6798-5p restores TAGLN2 expression, reactivates ribosome biogenesis and rRNA processing pathways, and has been shown to reduce tumor growth in preclinical in vivo models.
