Overview

miR-720 inhibitor is an experimental RNA-based therapeutic designed to silence microRNA-720 (miR-720), a prometastatic microRNA that is significantly upregulated in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). miR-720 promotes cancer progression and the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by directly targeting and suppressing the expression of the metastasis-suppressing proteins E-cadherin and αE-catenin. By inhibiting miR-720, this agent restores the levels of these suppressors, leading to reduced tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Preclinical studies in xenograft mouse models have demonstrated that miR-720 inhibition can repress tumor growth and induce apoptosis, while also attenuating oncogenic signaling markers such as β-Catenin, CD44, and Akt.
