Drug intelligence / Profile preview
miR-9985-loaded extracellular vesicles is an engineered exosome-based therapy under preclinical development for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma. Developed by researchers at Korea University, the therapy consists of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) engineered to carry miR-9985, a microRNA that targets GRIP and coiled-coil domain-containing 2 (GCC2). GCC2 is a trans-Golgi network protein that acts as a key regulator of EV secretion and tumor cell survival in lung adenocarcinoma. By delivering miR-9985, these engineered EVs reduce GCC2 expression, suppress EV secretion, and promote apoptosis in lung adenocarcinoma cells, demonstrating significant antitumor efficacy in preclinical in vitro and in vivo models.
