miR551b-3p inhibitor is a research-stage nucleic acid-based therapeutic tool designed to suppress the activity of microRNA-551b-3p (miR-551b-3p). In cancer biology, miR-551b-3p acts as an oncomiR by activating the oncostatin M (OSM) signaling pathway, including OSMR, IL6ST, and STAT3, which promotes tumor growth and metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer. In acute myeloid leukemia (AML), miR-551b-3p is associated with leukemic stem cell (LSC) maintenance and resistance to chemotherapy by targeting genes like FOXO3A and CEBPA. Inhibition of this miRNA using antisense oligonucleotides or locked nucleic acid (LNA) constructs has demonstrated the ability to reduce tumor cell proliferation and eliminate leukemic progenitors in preclinical models.
