Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mirfulan is a multi-ingredient topical wound and healing ointment primarily composed of zinc oxide and cod liver oil. Developed by Merckle Recordati GmbH, it is indicated for the treatment of non-infected acute and subacute skin damage, including diaper dermatitis, skin wounds, and conditions accompanied by redness, itching, and pain. The formulation leverages the astringent and protective properties of zinc oxide alongside the regenerative support of cod liver oil (rich in Vitamins A and D3) and urea. It is marketed in Germany as a pharmacy-only product and has been evaluated in clinical settings for its efficacy in improving transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and accelerating the healing of suction blister wounds.
