Overview
Mirgeal Gel is an oral dietary supplement formulated to relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and non-erosive reflux disease (NERD), such as heartburn, chest pain, and acid regurgitation. Developed by PharmExtracta and distributed in Thailand by Great Eastern Drug, the product is a combination of sodium alginate, licorice root extract (*Glycyrrhiza glabra*), and a standardized bilberry extract (*Vaccinium myrtillus*, specifically Mirtoselect). The sodium alginate forms a physical gel barrier (raft) on top of the gastric contents to mechanically prevent acid reflux. The licorice extract provides anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcer properties, while the bilberry extract promotes cytoprotection and re-epithelialization of the gastric and esophageal mucosa. Mirgeal Gel is administered orally as a gel stick pack.
