Overview

Mirikizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23), a cytokine involved in inflammatory and immune responses. By binding to IL-23, mirikizumab blocks its interaction with the IL-23 receptor, thereby inhibiting downstream pro-inflammatory pathways implicated in diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. It is indicated for adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease who have had an inadequate response, lost response, or were intolerant to conventional therapy or biologic treatment. Mirikizumab is administered initially by intravenous infusion followed by subcutaneous injections for maintenance[3][5][6][8][9].
