Overview

Mirogabalin is a small molecule drug in the gabapentinoid class, structurally related to pregabalin and gabapentin. It acts as a selective ligand for the α2δ subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels in the central nervous system. By binding to these subunits, mirogabalin inhibits calcium influx at nerve terminals, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and thereby decreasing neuropathic pain signaling. Mirogabalin was developed primarily for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain conditions such as diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain and postherpetic neuralgia. It is marketed under the brand name Tarlige.
