Overview

Mirostipen, also known as MPIF-1, is a C-C chemokine receptor type 1 (CCR1) agonist. It functions by binding specifically to CCR1 on human monocytes and dendritic cells. The drug's signal transduction pathway involves G proteins, phospholipase C, protein kinase C, calcium flux, and phospholipase A2, ultimately leading to cytoskeletal remodeling. Mirostipen is characterized as a specific inhibitor of myeloid progenitor cells and a potent activator of monocytes. It is a monomeric CC chemokine. Initially developed by Human Genome Sciences, Inc., Mirostipen was investigated for its potential in preventing chemotherapy-associated myelotoxicity. Its development has since been discontinued.
