Overview

Mite-E-Wak (also known as Tick-E-Vac or Kleshch-E-Vac) is an inactivated whole-virion vaccine developed and manufactured by the Chumakov Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immune-and-Biological Products of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Chumakov FSC R&D IBP RAS). The vaccine is produced by cultivating the tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus in primary chicken embryo fibroblast cells, followed by inactivation and purification. It is designed to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies against the TBE virus, providing active immunity against the disease. The vaccine is approved in Russia for use in children from 1 year of age and adults, typically administered via a primary two-dose intramuscular schedule followed by periodic boosters.
