MitoCell is an autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (AD-MSC) therapy developed by Taiwan Mitochondrion Applied Technology. The therapy is designed for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, specifically Parkinson's disease. The process involves harvesting a patient's own adipose tissue, isolating and expanding the mesenchymal stem cells ex vivo, and then transplanting them back into the patient via stereotactic intrastriatal implantation. MitoCell aims to leverage the regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties of MSCs to slow disease progression and improve motor function by secreting trophic factors and potentially supporting or replacing damaged dopaminergic neurons.
