Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Miuri Tandem is a multi-ingredient dietary supplement developed by Bio-STILOGIT Pharmaceuticals, primarily marketed in Italy for the management of urinary tract health and the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as cystitis. The formulation typically combines D-mannose with botanical extracts, including Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) and Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi). D-mannose acts as a competitive inhibitor of bacterial adhesion by binding to the FimH adhesins of *Escherichia coli*, preventing the bacteria from colonizing the urothelium and facilitating their clearance through urination. Cranberry proanthocyanidins (PACs) provide a complementary anti-adhesive effect, while Bearberry contains arbutin, which is metabolized to hydroquinone in the urine to exert antimicrobial properties. The product is sold as a retail consumer health product rather than a prescription pharmaceutical.
