MIV-170

MIV-170 is a preclinical small molecule compound that was developed by Medivir as an antiretroviral therapy for the treatment of HIV infection. It functions as a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), targeting the viral polymerase enzyme to inhibit HIV replication. MIV-170 is a structural analog of MIV-150, another NNRTI in Medivir's pipeline. In 2006, Medivir entered into a significant licensing agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb for the global development (excluding Nordic countries) of MIV-170. However, the partnership was dissolved in 2007 when Bristol Myers Squibb terminated development, citing that the compound did not meet its internal target profile. MIV-170 never progressed into clinical trials and remains a discontinued preclinical asset.
