Overview

**MIV-802** is a highly potent, pan-genotypic, nucleotide-based small molecule inhibitor of the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, the viral enzyme essential for HCV genome replication. Developed initially by Medivir AB, it demonstrated superior preclinical antiviral activity against HCV genotype 3 compared to sofosbuvir, with potential for use in combination regimens with other direct-acting antivirals targeting complementary HCV proteins. Preclinical studies confirmed a favorable safety profile, supporting its advancement, though clinical development appears limited as of recent reports.
