MJC41 is a monoclonal antibody developed as a molecular imaging tracer and diagnostic agent for colorectal cancer (CRC). It was identified using the proprietary Matrix Protein Array Technology (MPAT), an in-house modular proteomic platform, to target a specific protein biomarker (also designated MJC41) that is overexpressed in approximately 50% of both early and late-stage CRC tissues. The antibody specifically recognizes a target with molecular weights of 95 kDa and 55 kDa, localized within the cytoplasm and on the cell membrane of cancer cells. Preclinical studies in mouse xenograft models have demonstrated that MJC41 successfully localizes to tumors in vivo and exhibits high avidity, remaining bound to the surface of cancer cells for several days. Due to its high specificity—showing strong staining in CRC tissues but minimal reactivity in 24 different normal human organs—MJC41 is being investigated for use as a tracer in combination with imaging modalities such as MRI and CT to enhance the detection of cancer recurrence and improve surveillance for cancer survivors.
