Overview

mJX-594 is a preclinical-stage oncolytic vaccinia virus derived from the Western Reserve strain. It serves as the murine surrogate for JX-594 (Pexavec), featuring a deletion of the thymidine kinase (TK) gene to ensure tumor-selective replication and an insertion of the murine granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (mGM-CSF) gene. By expressing mGM-CSF, the virus promotes the recruitment and activation of antigen-presenting cells within the tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing the systemic anti-tumor immune response in murine models. It is primarily utilized in preclinical studies to evaluate the efficacy and molecular mechanisms of oncolytic immunotherapy in syngeneic mouse cancer models, such as renal cell carcinoma (RENCA).
