Overview

MK-1942 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and treatment-resistant depression. It was administered orally in capsule form and studied as an adjunct therapy for mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease dementia, as well as an add-on therapy for major depressive disorder that had not responded to other antidepressants. The exact mechanism of action remains undefined, but it was intended to complement existing treatments in both indications. Development was discontinued after Phase II trials were terminated due to concerns about potential liver toxicity observed during clinical studies[1][3][4][7].
