Overview

MK-2060 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Merck for the prevention of thrombosis in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), particularly those receiving hemodialysis. It functions as a Factor XI inhibitor, blocking both the activation of Factor XI and its downstream activity in the blood coagulation cascade. The drug is administered intravenously or subcutaneously and was being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for reducing major thrombotic cardiovascular events and arteriovenous graft thrombosis in ESRD patients. MK-2060 received Fast Track designation from the U.S. FDA due to its potential to address an unmet need for anticoagulation therapy in this high-risk population.
