Overview

MK-2266 is an AKT inhibitor that has been investigated in preclinical research for its potential to inhibit the migration and invasion of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cells. In studies focusing on the DNA damage response and the role of Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated (ATM) kinase, MK-2266 was used to evaluate whether the AKT signaling pathway is a primary regulator of glioma cell dispersal. Experimental results from scratch assays suggested that while ATM regulates glioma migration, this effect may be more closely linked to the MEK-ERK pathway than to AKT signaling. MK-2266 is likely a product of Merck & Co., as indicated by the 'MK' prefix, although it is frequently considered a typographical error for the more widely documented AKT inhibitor MK-2206.
