Overview

XTR006 (also known as MK-6240) is an 18F-labeled small molecule radiopharmaceutical being developed by Sinotau Pharmaceutical Group (in-licensed from Cerveau Technologies) as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent. It specifically targets aggregated microtubule-associated protein tau (neurofibrillary tangles), which is a hallmark pathology of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. By binding to these proteins with high affinity and selectivity, XTR006 allows for the non-invasive visualization and quantification of tau burden in the brain. This diagnostic tool is intended to support the identification and monitoring of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) due to Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease dementia.
