Overview

MK-6592 is a small molecule aurora kinase inhibitor that was developed for the treatment of cancer, specifically solid tumors. Aurora kinases are enzymes involved in cell division, and their aberrant expression has been linked to cancer progression. By inhibiting these kinases, MK-6592 aimed to disrupt tumor cell proliferation. The drug was originally discovered by Vertex Pharmaceuticals and further developed by Merck & Co., but its development was discontinued after it failed to meet pharmacokinetic objectives in Phase 1 clinical trials for solid tumors.
